A holy people

  • Andra Mosebok 19:5 "Om ni nu lyssnar till mig och håller mitt förbund skall ni vara min dyrbara egendom framför alla andra folk – ty hela jorden är min."
  • 1 Pet 2:9 "Men ni är ett utvalt släkte, kungar och präster, ett heligt folk, Guds eget folk som skall förkunna hans storverk. Han har kallat er från mörkret till sitt underbara ljus."
Det är precis vad Gud vill att vi ska vara; ett heligt folk. Men varför?
 
Den här veckan har vi studerat 2 Mosebok och den blev bara bättre och bättre ju fler gånger jag läste den! Den handlar om hur Gud räddade sitt folk från slaveriet i Egypten. Han ger dem de 10 budorden (nedan) och andra lagar att följa. Israeliterna (Guds utvalda folk) lyckas självklart inte hålla alla lagar så varför gav Gud dem lagarna om de inte ens kunde hålla dem?
 
Därför att Gud vill att hans folk ska vara speciellt, att andra människor ska se på dem att det är något särskilt med dem, att de inte bara är vanliga människor. Detta är fortfarande Guds önskan för oss, att vi ska leva ett rättfärdigt liv så att andra ska se på oss att det är något speciellt - att vi har Gud i vårat liv!
 
Vi kan inte bli räddade från synd genom att leva bra, vi blir bara räddade genom att tro på Jesus. MEN Gud vill fortfarande att vi ska söka honom och om vi gör det så kommer vi leva mer och mer som han vill, leva i kärlek och godhet!
 
De 10 budorden:
  1. Du skall inte ha andra gudar vid sidan av mig.
  2. Du ska inte göra idoler.
  3. Du skall inte missbruka Guds namn.
  4. Helga vilodagen.
  5. Hedra din fader och din moder.
  6. Du skall inte mörda.
  7. Du skall inte begå äktenskapsbrott.
  8. Du skall inte stjäla.
  9. Du skall inte bära falskt vittnesbörd.
  10. Du skall inte ha begär (efter andras saker).
Veckans utmaning!
  • Läs Bibeln och be 10-15 min varje morgon och se hur Gud påverkar din dag!
 

 

  • Exodus 19:5 "Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine."
  • 1 Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."

That is exactly what God wants us to be; a holy nation. But why?

 

This week, we have studied Exodus and it just got better and better the more I read it! It's about how God saved his people from slavery in Egypt. He gives them the 10 Commandments (below) and other laws to follow. The Israelites (God's chosen people) obviously does not succeed to keep the laws so why did God give them laws if they couldn't even keep them?

 

Because God wants his people to be special, so that other people should look at them and see that there is something special about them, that they are not just ordinary people. This is still God's desire for us, that we should live a righteous life so that others will look at us and see that there is something special - that we have God in our lives!

 

We cannot be saved from sin by living well, we will only be saved by believing in Jesus. BUT God still wants us to seek Him and if we do that that will result in a lifestyle he deires, a life of love and goodness!

The 10 Commandments
  1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  2. You shall not make idols.
  3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  5. Honor your father and your mother.
  6. You shall not murder.
  7. You shall not commit adultery.
  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  10. You shall not covet.

  • Read the Bible and pray 10-15 min in the morning and watch God inpact your day!
