The golden rule

  • Matteus 7:12 "Alltså: allt vad ni vill att människorna ska göra för er, det ska ni också göra för dem. Detta är lagen och profeterna." /Jesus
Versen ovan från Matteusevangeliet brukar kallas "den gyllene regeln".
  1. Skulle du vilja att någon stal filmer du hade skapat?
  2. Skulle du vilja att människor gick förbi dig utan att ens se på dig när du satt, kall och ensam, utanför matbutiken för att samla ihop pengar till din familj?
  3. Skulle du vilja att någon skrev just den där kommentaren på bilden du lade upp?
  4. Skulle du vilja att dina barnbarn hjälpte dig med diverse saker om du var gammal och trött?
  5. Skulle du vilja att dina tonåringar hjälpte till i hemmet så att du kunde få lite tid över?
  6. Skulle du vilja att någon annan körde för fort?
  7. Skulle du vilja att din partner tog hand om disken?
  8. Skulle du vilja få en komplimang?
  9. Skulle du vilja gå runt och plocka upp andras skräp?
  10. Skulle du vilja leda barngruppen i kyrkan helt själv, eller vara ensam och servera fika?
  11. Skulle du vilja bli hembjuden till någon om du kände dig ensam?
  12. Skulle du vilja att andra pratade gott om dig?
Om du är kristen så kan du mest troligt den här versen ord för ord. Superbra! Men hur lever du den? Behandlar du andra som du själv vill bli behandlad? Det gör jag inte alltför ofta i alla fall... 
 
Det känns nästan som att jag inte behöver tillägga något mer. Men tänk hur fantastiskt det skulle vara om man ständigt kunde påminna sig om den gyllene regeln och faktiskt börja applicera den! Då kan vi snacka himlen på jorden!
 
Veckans utmaning
  1. Kom på ett sätt att påminna dig själv om den gyllene regeln, kanske skriv en lapp på badrumsspegeln eller sätt den som larm på mobilen.
  2. Börja lev ut den gyllene regeln, behandla andra som du själv vill bli behandlad!

  2. Would you like people walking past you without even looking at you when you sat there, cold and alone, outside the grocery store to raise money for your family?
  3. Would you like it if someone wrote that exact comment on the picture you posted?
  4. Would you like it if your grandchildren helped you with various things if you were old and tired?
  5. Would you like it if your teens helped at home so you could get some free time?
  6. Would you like it if someone else was speeding past your house?
  7. Would you like it if your partner took care of the dishes?
  8. Would you like to get a compliment?
  9. Would you like to go around and pick up other people's trash?
  10. Would you like to lead the group of children in the church all by yourself, or be alone and serve coffee?
  11. Would you like to be invited home to someone if you felt alone?
  12. Would you like others saying good things about you behind your back?
If you are a Christian, you probably know this verse word for word. Great! But how do you live it? Do you treat others as you want to be treated? Because I don't too often...

It almost feels like I don't have to add anything more. But imagine how amazing it would be if we could start recalling the golden rule and actually begin to apply it! Then we can talk heaven on earth!
 
Weekly challenge
  1. Come up with a way to remind yourself of the golden rule, perhaps write a note on the bathroom mirror or have it as an alarm on the your phone.
  2. Start living out the golden rule, treat others as you want to be treated!
